In a dramatic turn of events, Nigeria’s healthcare system is facing turbulence as striking nurses continue to paralyze hospital services nationwide. The Federal Government has now issued a passionate plea to health workers: “Call off the strike and return to the negotiation table!”
Speaking after the Federal Executive Council meeting, Prof. Ali Pate, Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, revealed that the government is actively addressing the grievances that led to the industrial action. He emphasized that dialogue remains the key and confirmed a high-level meeting with nurses and doctors scheduled for Friday.
“We’ve reviewed all the issues and taken concrete steps. The government is committed to resolving this crisis,” Prof. Pate assured.
In a bold move to revamp the health sector, the Minister also announced the approval of a new Oncology Centre at the University College Hospital, Ibadan – a major milestone in President Bola Tinubu’s healthcare revolution.
As the strike enters its third day, patients across the country are left in limbo, with many hospitals struggling to maintain basic services. The nation watches closely as negotiations unfold.
