    The Burdett Trust for Nursing was established in 2002 to make charitable grants to support the nursing contribution to healthcare. The scholarships have a particular focus on developing research capacity and leadership within the nursing profession. It is hoped that these scholarships will form the research capacity building required for a future nursing research career for those successful in securing a scholarship, who will be known as The Burdett Fellows OR Nursing Studies Burdett Fellows.PROGRAMME OF STUDYEdinburgh University’s MSc by Research (Nursing) programme in Nursing Studies offers the highest education and development for those nurses interested in developing world-class research skills that would ideally position them to progress to PhD study. It aims to provide students with an advanced understanding of research design, data collection and data analysis issues in nursing and the wider health and social care context. The programme enables students to develop their understanding of debates about research, evidence and practice from a nursing lens. The programme is designed for qualified nurse practitioners and graduates (or equivalent) interested in pursuing a future career as a research leader in the field to drive real-world positive change for global population health.THE STUDENTSHIPThe Studentship is for 1 year full-time. For UK (Home) students, this will cover a stipend of £10,250 per annum and University fees. For International students, this will cover a stipend of £17,425 per annum and University fees.Funding will cease at the end of Year 1.ELIGIBILITYThe Studentships will be awarded to new applicants who have applied for admission to the MSc by Research (Nursing) programme commencing in September 2024.CRITERIAApplicants are expected to meet the following criteria:ESSENTIALA registered nurse.A degree in Nursing (First-Class Honours or Upper Second-Class Honours or International equivalent).Applicants must have applied or plan on applying to the MSc by Research (Nursing).A research proposal that matches the subject area’s research interests, submitted on the School template.If English is not your first language, then an IELTS (or equivalent). 7.0 (at least 6.5 in each module) is required.DESIRABLEExperience in undertaking empirical research.Working as part of a research team.Publication(s).Eligible applicants should complete an online scholarship applicationThe scholarship deadline is 23:59 BST 22nd April 2024.  CONTACT DETAILS
