The Chairman of the Lagos State Health Service Commission, Dr Atinuke Onayiga, has stressed the importance of digitising hospital records, saying this will help in delivering quality health service.Onayiga said this on the sidelines of a three-day retreat for accountants in the Lagos State Government hospitals. She said the state government was in the process of moving from paper based records in the hospitals to digitised records.“There is ongoing work on digitisation of hospital records; we are at the first stage which is to create the platform. The second stage is to connect the platforms and the final stage is to enter into the SHIP, which is a platform that connects the health sector globally.“Right now, all our hospitals are getting themselves digitalised and that is where we are going. It is important for everybody, the patients and the doctors. It will ensure the delivery of quality health service,” Onayiga said. She said other health workers had also undergone a retreat recently, saying this was organised to download the THEMES Agenda of the current administration in the state to ensure the workers in the health sector were well motivated. The Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Dr Ademuyiwa Eniayewun, said the accountant were key in transforming the health sector in the state.“Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has deemed it fit to impress upon the health workers on their critical roles in the transformation going on in the sector. The accountants are key drivers in revamping the health sector.“I believe that after the retreat, the accountants in the state-owned hospitals will be in a better position to play a pivotal role and drive all the necessary processes and innovation to move the health sector forward,” he said.
