Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in BiochemistryApplicants must be:Holders of a third-class degree or second-class lower division degree in Biochemistry or another related discipline from the Rivers State University or any other Institution or equivalent status recognized by the senate of the Rivers State University.Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) with a least, lower credit classification or its equivalent in a related discipline obtained from a recognised institution.2. Master of Science (MSC) Degree in BiochemistryApplicants shall possess a Bachelor of Science (BSC) degree in Biochemistry or relevant discipline from the Rivers State University or any other institution or equivalent status recognised by the state of the River State University. The degree shall not be less than Second class (lower division) or equivalent level with a CGPA of 3.00 points on a 5.00 point scale. An applicant who holds a PGD with a CGPA of 3.50 or above may apply for the Master of Science Programme.3. Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degree in BiochemistryCandidates seeking admission into the PhD programme in Biochemistry will be required to have the following entry qualifications:MSC Degree in Biochemistry of the Rivers State University or any University recognized by the Senate of the River State University. Candidates must have a minimum CGPA of 3.50 on a 5.00-point scale 0r 2.80 on a 4.00-point scale.Candidates who are deficient in any area will be required to remedy the deficiency in the MSC programme.Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit a well-written proposal on their intended research interest to the postgraduate studies committee (PSC) of the Department. The proposal will be defended orally at an interview before the members of the PSC committee and only candidates who score 60% and above will be admitted into the programmeDURATION OF THE PROGRAMMEThe full-time PGD Programme shall be a minimum of 2 semesters (12 months) and a maximum of 4 semesters (24 months) while the part-time program shall be a minimum of 4 semesters (24 months) or a maximum of 8 semesters (48 months)Full-time MSC Degree Programme shall be a minimum of 2 semesters (12 Months) or a maximum of 4 semesters (24 months) while a part-time MSC Degree Programme shall be a minimum of 4 semesters (24 months) and a maximum of 8 semesters (48 months)The Full-time PhD Degree Programme shall be a minimum of 8 semesters (48 months) while the part-time PhD degree programme shall be a minimum of 10 semesters (60 months) and a maximum of 12 semesters (72 months).
